According to the Brazilian Constitution and the Brazilian Criminal
Code, Victor Arden Barnard will not receive a sentence of more than
thirty (30) years in prison. Protecting him from a 500-plus year
sentence by the State of Minnesota.
Victor Barnard, 53, was arrested by Brazilian Police on February 27,
2015, due to a 59 count sexual assault indictment, from Pine County,
Minnesota. Barnard was the head priest of the River Road Fellowship in
Finlayson.
Pine County Attorney Reese Frederickson stated that extradition of
Barnard could take one to three years.
Cristina Liberato, 33, a Brazilian citizen and member of Barnard's
followship since she was a teen, has assisted Barnard evade arrest in
Brazil since March 2012. "She fully supported him at her cost," Kandy
Takahashi, Chief of Brazilian Federal Police in Rio Grande do Norte,
told the Associated Press. "She was hiding him."
Cristina Liberato was released after her arrest with Barnard, but faces
charges of assisting a fugitive in Brazil. Pine County Attorney Reese
Frederickson has not stated if he will request a grand jury to file
charges against Liberato for supporting and hiding Barnard, as a
fugitive.
Brazil usually does not extradite citizens of Brazil to foreign
countries.

Minnesota to sentence Barnard to a maximum sentence of 30 years - not
